The America we live in today isn’t the America of the roaring 20’s or even the place generation X grew up in. Nobody wants to hear this believe me. We want to say we have grown better and stronger as a nation, but really have we? We are drowning in debt, the threat of North Korea looming in the back of our minds. Have we hit the final breaking point in our humanity where we can’t even stop on the side of the road and give up our last $2 that we were going to get a pack of gum with to the woman who just lost her job and has two hungry babies to feed? Have we been so blindsided by gay marriage, by abortions and by just living our lives that we can’t take the time to simply bless others. The tale is as old as time bless others and be blessed. It’s that simple give up that pack of gum or that Taco Bell burrito. Bless others and our gracious Father says you will be rewarded! Mark 12:41-44 41Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.
43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”
Live like the widow. Give your last dollar even if it’s a dollar, Jesus will carry your offering for miles. But again Christians, do not give expecting to receive but give with a humble heart. You are loved. Love like Jesus loves.
